The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has officially certified The Weeknd‘s hit singles “Blinding Lights” and “Starboy” diamond.
The RIAA confers diamond certification to a song when it moves 10 million units, with one equivalent song unit equal to a single digital song sale or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams.
“Blinding Lights” is the second single from The Weeknd’s 2019 album, After Hours. “Starboy” is the title track to his 2016 album.
With these certifications, The Weeknd becomes only the sixth solo artist to reach 3 diamond digital single awards.
The third song to receive diamond certification is “The Hills,” released in 2020.
On Tuesday, The Weekend released the music video for “Out Of Time”, the latest single from his critically acclaimed album DAWN FM.
The video was directed by Cliqua and features appearances from Jim Carrey and South Korean model and actress HoYeon.
