The Weeknd Postpones Toronto Tour Stop Due To Network Outage

The Weeknd was forced to postpone his After Hours Till Dawn opening tour stop in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, on Friday, July 8, due to a widespread network outage at Canada’s main telecommunications company Rogers Communications Inc.

“I’m crushed & heartbroken. Been at the venue all day but it’s out of our hands because of the Rogers outage,” the Weeknd said in a statement on social media. “Operations and safety are compromised and I tried my absolute best.”

“This one hurts the most, and we will make this show happen, but unfortunately not tonight,” he added. “I know how long you’ve been waiting and how hard a lot of you worked to make it to the show and experience this special moment with me. I can’t wait to see you all.”

A statement from the Toronto Blue Jays, who also play at the Rogers Centre where the show was scheduled to take place, said a new show date will be shared as soon as possible and tickets will be honored.

While the kickoff to his After Hours Till Dawn tour was postponed, the Weeknd is next scheduled to perform at Lincoln Financial Filed in Philadelphia on Thursday, July 14.
