Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ Video Tops 1 Billion Views On YouTube

King of Pop Michael Jackson‘s “Billie Jean” video has topped 1 billion views on YouTube, making it the late singer’s first entry into the billion-view club.

“Billie Jean” becomes the third music video from the 1980s to reach the benchmark after Guns N’ Roses‘ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and a-ha‘s “Take on Me.”

“Billie Jean,” released by Epic Records on January 2, 1983, is the second single from Jackson’s sixth studio album, Thriller. It was written and composed by Jackson and produced by Jackson and Quincy Jones.

The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was ranked by Billboard as the No. 2 song for 1983. “Billie Jean” was one of the best-selling singles of 1983, helping Thriller become the best-selling album of all time, and became Jackson’s best-selling solo single.

The Steve Barron-directed video was one of three produced in support of Thriller. Meanwhile, the video for the album’s title track has reached over 765 million views on YouTube.
