Megan Thee Stallion was recently honored by her hometown of Houston, Texas, with a key to the city.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, accompanied by members of the City Council, presented the key to the Grammy-winning rapper at a ceremony held on Sunday, May 1. “Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift people’s lives in underserved communities,” Turner said.
Megan launched the Pete and Thomas Foundation in 2021 to help people in Houston “and across the globe” cover expenses related to housing, education and wellness.
Turner also proclaimed May 2 as “Megan Thee Stallion Day.” In an Instagram post later, the celebrity singer recalled that May 2 is also her mother and grandmother’s birthday.
“Thank you Mayor @sylvesterturner for honoring me today and I will continue to give back to the city that made me who I am today,” she added.
