Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. This is the ninth week that the Christmas carol has earned the No. 1 spot on the chart.
The song earned 36.2 million streams and 29.9 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 6,000 downloads in the United States in the December 2-8 tracking week, according to Luminate.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” is also currently atop Billboard‘s Global 200 Songs Chart and the U.K. Singles Chart. The song also reigns the multi-metric Holiday 100 chart for a 54th week.
A track from Carey’s 1994 album Merry Christmas, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is an up-tempo love song that includes bell chimes, backing vocals and synthesizers. The song has become a Christmas standard and continues to surge in popularity each holiday season.
Brenda Lee‘s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” ranks second on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated December 17.
It is followed by Bobby Helms‘ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Burl Ives‘ “A Holly Jolly Christmas” in the third and fourth positions, respectively.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data.
