Lil Nas X’s ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ Wins Video Of The Year At MTV VMAs

Lil Nas X won the Video of the Year award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The “power bottom rapper” took home the top honor at the 2021 VMAs on Sunday for his fiery, unapologetically queer “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” visual.

“First, I want to say thank you to the gay agenda,” Lil Nas X said in his acceptance speech.

Earlier that evening, the 22-year-old rapper transformed the VMAs stage into the Montero State Prison for a mash-up of “Montero” and “Industry Baby,” his collaboration with fellow rapper Jack Harlow.

Lil Nas X also won the award for Best Direction and Best Visual Effects.

Olivia Rodrigo was another big winner at the 2021 MTV VMAs, with her “Drivers License” winning Song of the Year award, and Push Performance of the Year award. She was also selected as Best New Artist.

Meanwhile, pop superstar Justin Bieber was crowned Artist of the Year.
