Lil Nas X Reveals Release Date For Debut Album ‘Montero’

Lil Nas X recently took to Twitter to announce that his debut album Montero will be out on September 17, via Columbia Records.

“Creating this album has been therapy for me,” Lil Nas said in a statement. “I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own.”

Montero will contain the hit single “Montero (Call Me by Your Name),” which hit the top spot on the Billboard 100 in April, earning Lil Nas his second No. 1 after “Old Town Road,” which reigned atop the chart for 19 weeks in 2019.

The record is also likely to feature “Industry Baby,” a collaboration with Jack Harlow, and the previously released “Sun Goes Down.”

In June 2021, Lil Nas had said his first full-length album would be “coming soon.

“It’s all connecting to one little world,” Lil Nas said of the album in a recent interview on the YouTube series “Kerwin Frost Talks.” “It’s pretty cohesive. It’s very much straightforward, like OK, this Montero: This is how I feel about the future, about this past event, about this current thing going, this part of my love life, this part of family, this part of my career, you know?”

“I really wanna let people to get to know Montero. It’s definitely deeper, but it still has its bops,” he added.
