Lil Baby Debuts ‘Dark Mode’ With Ja Morant In New Beats By Dre Ad

Lil Baby debuted a new track, “Dark Mode,” featuring NBA All-Star Ja Morant, in a new ad for Beats By Dre that aired during a NBA playoff game that featured Morant last Sunday (May 8).

Both Lil Baby and Morant appear solely in monochromatic black and white throughout the 90-second video that is centered around the their friendship and mutual admiration. The track focuses on “going into dark mode,” a behavior which has ultimately made Morant one of the most exciting players to watch in the league.

“Twelve to twelve, I’m tryna bust a clock, the Ja Morant flow / I get in that zone, I get to callin’ it the dark mode / Love the fans so much, I hear ’em screamin’, ‘Pipe me up more’ / Call me what you want, but if you know, then call me young GOAT,” Lil Baby raps over sharp beats built around soundbites of boots stomping and squeaking on a basketball court.

“Ja has been one of my favorite players to watch. We’ve been locked in,” said Lil Baby. “This is not my first time partnering with Beats, but we took it up a notch with this original song. The world gets to experience ‘Dark Mode’ for the first time in a way that’s crazy!”
