Kendrick Lamar Shares ‘We Cry Together’ Short Film

Kendrick Lamar has released a short film for the song “We Cry Together” from his new album “Mr. Morale & the High Steppers“.

Directed by Jake Schreier, Dave Free, and Lamar, the short film features performances by both Kendrick and actress-dancer Taylour Paige. Adam Newport-Berra was the cinematographer.

The visuals, filmed in one take on a soundstage in March 2020, show a realistic depiction of an argument in an abusive relationship that finds Lamar and Paige saying absolutely horrible things to each other, with her delivering an entire verse while sobbing. The video ends with the two of them having graphic-yet-censored sex.

“We Cry Together” is the second video the rapper released from Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, following “N95.”

The short film quietly premiered in a Los Angeles theater in June for a weeklong screening, Rolling Stone reports.
