HBO recently took to Twitter to announce that no decision has been made on a second season of The Weeknd‘s show “The Idol.”
“It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined,” the @HBOPR account tweeted. “It has not, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.”
The announcement from HBO‘s communications team comes after Page Six published a story stating that the fate of the program was unclear, citing a source as saying the program “was never meant to be a long-running show, it was always . a limited series.”
The Page Six story also quoted a source inside HBO which refuted the idea that it would not return, saying “The door is definitely still open – it’s definitely not a decision [yet]. At this point, this is normal in our process . we’re only two episodes in.”
There were also reports that the controversial drama series written by The Weeknd and Sam Levinson, and featuring Lily-Rose Depp, would possibly conclude with Season 1, following widespread criticism over its acting, storyline, and graphic sex scenes.
