Drake has teamed up with LeBron James and Maverick Carter to executive produce Black Ice, a documentary about Black hockey players.

Black Ice, which will be produced by Uninterrupted Canada and The SpringHill Company, which was founded by James and business partner Carter, will tell story about Black hockey players facing racism in the sport. It will be be directed by Oscar nominee Hubert Davis.

Black Ice will focus on racism faced by Black hockey players from the time of the Colored Hockey League to today’s National Hockey League and its small number of Black players.

“Despite the hardships and struggles, this story is about resilience and how society views itself today while offering a path forward to a more equitable and inclusive future,” Uninterrupted Canada chief content officer Vinay Virmani said in a statement.

“I was not only surprised but inspired to learn about the stories of the often overlooked and unheralded black pioneers of hockey,” Davis said. “I think it is more important than ever before for all generations, particularly young people of color, to understand and see the diverse faces who have contributed and shaped one the essential fabrics of our country.”
