Drake, 21 Savage Sued Over Fake Vogue Cover

Superstar rappers Drake and 21 Savage have been sued by Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue, for using the popular magazine’s name to promote their new album, Her Loss.

The lawsuit, first reported by TMZ, alleges that Drake and 21 Savage professionally reprinted a full issue of Vogue with the fake cover and handed it out in several North American cities, leading fans to believe the magazines were genuine.

“Vogue magazine and its Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour have had no involvement in Her Loss or its promotion, and have not endorsed it in any way,” part of the suit reads. “Nor did Condé Nast authorize, much less support, the creation and widespread dissemination of a counterfeit issue of Vogue, or a counterfeit version of perhaps one of the most carefully curated covers in all of the publication business in service of promoting Defendants’ new album.”

In an October 30 Instagram post cited in the suit, Drake writes, “Me and my brother on newsstands tomorrow!! Thanks @voguemagazine and Anna Wintour for the love and support on this historic moment.”

The publishers are seeking to force the pair to stop using Vogue‘s trademark as well as up to $4 million in damages.

Drake and 21 Savage announced the album in their recently released music video for “Jimmy Cooks,” which dropped on 21 Savage’s birthday on Saturday, October 22.
