Chlöe Bailey, one half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle, shared a sultry cover of Adina Howard‘s “Freak Like Me” on Wednesday, August 31, for her new Spotify Singles release.
“I want a freak in the morning/ A freak in the evening, just like me/ I need a roughneck n***/ That can satisfy me, just for me/ If you are that kind of man/ ‘Cause I’m that kind of girl/ I’ve got a freaky secret, everybody sing/ ‘Cause we don’t give a damn about a thing,” Bailey croons on the chorus.
“Freak Like Me” was the debut single of Adina. It was released on January 25, 1995, as the lead single from her debut album, Do You Wanna Ride?. It reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, as well as No. 2 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart for four weeks.
The song was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of one million copies. The song has been covered by several artists, including British girl group Sugababes, who reached number one on the UK Singles Chart with their version in 2002.
For the other half of her Spotify Singles, Chlöe delivered an acoustic remix of her latest single “Surprise.”
