Alicia Keys Announces New Stage Musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’

Iconic singer-songwriter Alicia Keys has announced a new stage musical, “Hell’s Kitchen,” based on her experience growing up in the Manhattan neighborhood of the same name.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz, the musical is directed by Michael Greif and choreographed by Camille Brown.

“Hell’s Kitchen” revolves around a teenager, Ali, who is eager to achieve her New York dream.

According to the official description, “Ali’s mother is just as determined to protect her daughter from the same mistakes she made. When Ali falls for a talented young drummer, both mother and daughter must face hard truths about race, defiance, and growing up. Ali feels trapped, until the sound of a neighbor playing piano opens the door to an unexpected friendship and a radically different future.”

“Hell’s Kitchen” will open November 19th as part of New York theatrical institution The Public Theater’s 2023-2024 season.

Public Theater Supporter Plus tickets for fall 2023 shows will go on sale on Tuesday, June 13th and Public Theater Supporter tickets will go on sale on Thursday, June 15th. Full-price single tickets will be available on Tuesday, July 18th.

The cast includes Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, Chad Carstarphen, Reid Clarke, Chloe Davis and Nico DeJesus, among others.
