Kanye West has claimed that Donda, his much-awaited tenth album, was released without his approval.
Donda was released on August 29, 2021, by GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. The album, which is named after West’s late mother, Donda West, was initially set for release on July 24, 2020, but was delayed multiple times.
“UNIVERSAL PUT MY ALBUM OUT WITHOUT MY APPROVAL AND THEY BLOCKED JAIL 2 FROM BEING ON THE ALBUM,” West wrote in all caps on Instagram.
“Jail pt 2,” a track from Donda featuring DaBaby, was initially not available on the album when it first dropped on streaming services on Sunday morning, but it was available later in the afternoon.
During Kanye’s third listening event for Donda at Chicago’s Soldier Field on August 26, it was revealed that Jay-Z‘s verse on “Jail” was replaced by a new one from DaBaby.
DaBaby was recently embroiled in a controversy due to his homophobic and misogynistic comments made at Rolling Loud Miami in July.
