Cardi B is overjoyed after her latest single “Up” debuted at No. 2 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning the rapper her ninth Top 10 of her career.
“Just landed and my wifi back poppin. I want to say thank you to all my fans and supporters this is BIG for me,” Cardi tweeted. “I wanted to beat my last solo single number & I over succeeded. First time a female rapper debut top 5 since Lauren. This is pop girl shit but I’m not pop.”
“Up” dropped on February 5, and is also ruling the Digital Song Sales and Streaming Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. The track is expected to feature on Cardi’s as-yet untitled sophomore album.
“Up” is also the highest debut by a solo female rapper on the Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill‘s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” debuted at No. 1 in 1998.
Cardi’s last release was “WAP,” her monster collab with Megan Thee Stallion, which topped the Hot 100 back in August.
Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo‘s smash hit “Drivers License” currently rules the Hot 100 chart.
